Here's a run down of our events and happenings for Thursday, 2nd October, National Poetry Day. Issue 10 of FourXFour Journal will be released, with new work from Ruth Carr, Damian Gorman, Judith Thurley and Michael Wilson. The new issue will be available to download and read for free on here (see the FourXFour link on our menu). We'll be on Good Morning Ulster in the morning around 8.15, with one of the winners of Translink's Life's Better Haiku Competition. Four winners, along with six commended entries, will be announced by Translink tomorrow. Thanks to everyone who entered, and keep an eye out for some great haiku hitting bus and train stations shortly. 'The Wide Justice' exhibition opens at the Linen Hall Library, with paintings and sketches by Leslie Nicholl, and poems by Poetry NI's Colin Dardis. The exhibition runs to October 16th. There's a lunchtime reading from Colin on Friday 10th at 1pm also. On Thursday evening is the Funeral Services Northern Ireland National Poetry Competition 2014 - Recital at Parliament Buildings, Stormont. The overall winner will be revealed, and good luck to all who have entered. And also, don't forgot, on Friday, at Crescent Arts Centre, we have the Belfast heat of the All Ireland Poetry Slam! Enjoy the day and let us know what you are up yourself for National Poetry Day on Facebook and Twitter. |
