Purely  Poetry

PURELY POETRY: our monthly open mic poetry night, based in the Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast. We run on the second Friday of every month.

Purely Poetry has been running since October 2011, welcoming fans of poetry of all ages, experience and background get together to share in the mutual adoration of words. We provide a platform for all poets s to share their work, fostering an open, laid back and encouraging atmosphere for people to read and listen in comfort. Each June, we also run the Belfast Book Festival Poetry Slam.

To take part, the process is simple:
TURN UP - SIGN UP - SPEAK UP

TURN UP
You'll need a ticket in that case. Tickets are £5, with all proceeds going to the Crescent. Just buy on the night or pre-order through the Crescent box office.

When ordering your ticket, when you sign up select the 'Participant' option on the box office. If you just want to listen in, select the 'Audience' option. Readers are limited to 20.

SPEAK UP
Once you're name is out of the hat, then's your chance to take the mic! Each reader has seven minutes max to read, so that everyone has equal time, and that as many readers as possible can be fitted into the night. You can read your own work, share a favourite, share just one poem or as many as you can fit into 420 seconds!

Please read the Crescent's safety guidelines before your visit.

We look forward to hearing your poems!
