Poetry NI is delighted to announced that we will be publishing two new chapbooks next month from James Meredith and Jenny Cleland through our Pen Points Press imprint! James Meredith: ‘a wine cup with base’ James Meredith’s stories & poems have been published in Ireland, the UK, Europe & the USA, including The Stinging Fly, Abridged, The Honest Ulsterman, The Incubator Journal, Lagan Press Poetry Originals, 34th Parallel, A Hundred Gourds, FourXFour Poetry Journal, Tellus & Black and Blue amongst others. A collection of his poetry, ‘Drawers of Sand’, was published in July 2014 alongside Romanian poet Laurian Lodoaba by Editura Tempul (Romania) in a bilingual edition. ‘burnt offering / ardere de tot’, a two poet collection with Romanian poet Paulina Popa, was published in February 2016 by Emia Press, Romania. He is a past winner of the Brian Moore Short Story Award, and author of three short plays, Shadow & Light: a monologue ( LunchBox Theatre), Don’t Get Me Wrong (part of ‘Arrivals’ from Terra Nova Productions), & Secrets (part of ‘Arrivals 2’ from Terra Nova Productions). Jenny Cleland: ‘Belonging to Myself’ Jenny Cleland was a student of LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) from a young age. She studied English at Queen's University and later completed a PGCE in English with Media and Drama at Canterbury Christ Church University College. She currently lives in County Down and teaches English to the migrant community. Jenny has read at the Belfast Arts Festival and Culture Night Belfast for the last four years. She is the winner of the 2016 Belfast Book Festival Poetry Slam, having twice been a finalist in previous years, as well as a two-time finalist in the Belfast heat of the All Ireland Poetry Slam. Jenny has headlined A Little of What You Fancy in Portrush, as well as performing in the Poetry and Pints Festival 2014 in the John Hewitt Bar, the Sunday Assembly, Sunflower Fest, Stendhal Festival, and is a regular reader at Purely Poetry's open mic nights.
