Issue 7 of FourXFour Poetry Journal is out now, featuring Olive Broderick, Lynne Edgar, Paula Matthews and Nandi Jola.
"You’ll notice that this issue contains a quartet of woman poets. Whereas more by accident that design, we think this is a great opportunity to address the brilliant writing and work carried out by female scribes within Northern Ireland.
"For our mind, women are leading the way in contemporary poetry in the North. With Sinead Morrissey recently winning the Forward Prize for Poetry; to established names such as Moyra Donaldson, Deirdre Cartmill, Leonita Flynn, Ruth Carr, and Maria McManus; to emerging writers such as Erin Halliday, Paula Cunningham, Geraldine O’Kane and Tory Campbell. After a scene which some say has been over-dominated with males, the only prominent woman poet being Medbh McGuckian, it’s fantastic to see attention and merit being given to female voices, no longer the ‘Mad Women in the Annex’, to borrow a phrase from Edna Longley."

Issue 8 will be out sometime in April, and will feature Erin Halliday, Jim Meredith, Leslie Martin and Tom French.
