![]() The waiting is over, and we now know our 2015 All Ireland Poetry Slam Champion! After preliminary heats in the four provinces, Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster Live Poetry two finalists from each province came to Belfast to slam it out at his year's final. The finalists were: Connacht: Fiinn Costelloe & Cathal Holden Leinster: John Cummins & Clara Rose Thornton Munster: Cormac Lally & Paul McNamara Ulster: Philip Doherty & Rory Jones Clare Rose Thorton, Paul McNamara and Rory Jones got through to the final, but in the end, the overall winner was the winner of the Belfast heat, Rory Jones. Commenting on one of the poems he read, 'I Bought an iPhone for my iPhone', Jones said: "A satirical look at modern dependence on technology, and how the relationship of consumer and product blurs inseparably... but that sounds really pretentious. Really it's a poem about my funny talking phone and funny talking phones are very funny!" Many thanks goes to our guest judges for the night: Chelley McLear, Elizabeth McGeown, David Braziel and Geraldine O'Kane. Also thank you to our awesome guest readers who performed between the rounds: Elizabeth, Diane Morrison, and the troupe of Zakk Appleyard, Dave Wilson and Anthony Ferguson, united at 'The Australian Paperboy League'. Gratitude also to Brian John Spencer, who sketched beautifully all our readers at their were on the mic. Comments are closed.
