PURELY POETRY: our monthly open mic poetry night, based in the Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast. 

Purely Poetry has been running since October 2011, welcoming fans of poetry of all ages, experience and background get together to share in the mutual adoration of words. We provide a platform for all poets s to share their work, fostering an open, laid back and encouraging atmosphere for people to read and listen in comfort. Each June, we also run the Belfast Book Festival Poetry Slam. 

To take part, the process is simple:

TURN UP:
You'll need a ticket in that case. Tickets are £5, with all proceeds going to the Crescent. Just buy on the night or pre-order through the Crescent box office.

SIGN UP:
Doors open 7:15pm, and event start is 7:30. If you want to read, please arrive on time to register as spots are limited. A sign up desk will be at the front of the room, near the microphone..

SPEAK UP:
Once you're name is out of the hat, then it's your chance to take the mic! Each reader has seven minutes max to read, so that everyone has equal time, and that as many readers as possible can be fitted into the night. You can read your own work, share a favourite, share just one poem or as many as you can fit into 420 seconds!
